The Cheltenham Trust is an independent not for profit charitable organisation that manages five of the town’s iconic and prestigious venues, the Grade I listed Pittville Pump Room, the Grade II listed Cheltenham Town Hall, The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum, Leisure at Cheltenham and the Prince of Wales Stadium.
As a lead provider of cultural and leisure services in Cheltenham, the Trust contributes to the local economy and the health and wellbeing of local residents and visitors, which is more important than ever as a result of the impact of the pandemic. The Trust produced its five year business plan for 2020 to 2025, and supporting capital investment plan in December 2019, and it was on track to deliver a new business model. This was halted when all venues closed and the Trust responded by repurposing its business and launching two new outdoor takeaway cafes at Pittville Pump Room and the Garden Bar at the town hall.
The culture, hospitality and leisure industries have been some of the hardest hit throughout the pandemic and, like every other business and organisation across the country, the Trust has had to completely reconfigure its financial projections and business plans as the situation progressed. The Trust is currently working on its recovery plan, building on the learning throughout the pandemic and recognising that it will be some time before it can resume its pre-covid business model.
